V8 Supercars - Australian Grand Prix 29 March 2009 Davison and Toll HRT third in Manufacturer's Challenge Will Davison and the Toll Holden Racing Team wrapped up third for the weekend today at the AGP Manufacturer's Challenge. Davison was on track to complete the final 15 lap race in third position before suffering a steering issue on the closing laps, forcing to nurse the car home. Over the last half of the final lap, Davison succumbed to a charging Russell Ingall who caught him over the last few corners. He finished in fourth. Davison was third overall for the weekend and occupied the final step of the podium. Craig Lowndes owned the top step with his fellow Ford driver Mark Winterbottom second. Number 2 pilot Garth Tander made up some ground in the final race, he started from 12th on the grid and picked up three positions on the first lap to settle in ninth. Around lap five he made a move on Coulthard and in the final laps got past Van Gisbergen to finish in seventh. Tander used the race today to try a few new things on his #2 Commodore in order to gain valuable information ahead of the second Round of the Championship in Hamilton. Craig Lowndes took the final race win with Mark Winterbottom in second. Russell Ingall was third. The second round of the Championship is in New Zealand for the Hamilton 400. Will Davison - #22 Toll Holden Racing Team VE Commodore (Race 3: 4th, 1:59.5228) “Like everyone else, we had a great opportunity to race this weekend without the pressure of Championship points, but just because there are no points on offer it doesn't mean you don't want to win – we tried as hard as we could. I lost a couple of spots in the last two laps when we had a problem – it looks like the car lost a power steering belt and I had to manhandle it home – but I've had two great results in my first two weekends with the Toll Holden Racing Team so I'm rapt!” Garth Tander - #2 Toll Holden Racing Team VE Commodore (Race 3: 7th, 2:00.3200) “Today was another good opportunity to try a few different things on my Toll HRT Commodore and compare with what we'd done in the previous two races. I had a long dice with Fabian Coulthard and moved another six positions forward from yesterday, so that was good. I felt yesterday's setup was better, but we've got good information to move forward with for Hamilton.” Race 3 results – AGP Manufacturer's Challenge: 1. Craig Lowndes, Team Vodafone 1:58.8579 2.
